Garmin Forerunner 10 GPS Watch (Pink/White)

As soon as I heard that the forerunner 10 would be hitting the market I did a ton of research on the thing to figure out if it was right for me or not. This is my first GPS watch so I wanted to familiarize myself with all the features and consider if indeed this was the one for me. In the past I was aware that Garmin watches are great but I must say, they are not very attractive (for most women's smaller wrists).

This compared with their price point kept me away but the F10 is very affordable and cute in either pink/green. Note the black version is a bit larger than the pink or green. I got the watch about a week ago and so far I love it. The instruction manual it came with is barely needed (and lacks a lot of info anyways).

It was super easy for me to figure out and lightweight on the run. I love how it has the run/walk feature, virtual pacer and is water proof as well. All I really wanted/needed was a watch that will tell me exactly how far I went, how fast, avg speed so any additional info for me was an xtra. It holds up to your last 5 runs showing you avg speed for each, total time, calories burned, date and distance. It has a break down for laps (each is 1 mile and no you can't change the lap distance) it will show your pace per lap as well.

Syncing with Garmin connect was very simple and Wow, tons of information on there as well. For me, this will greatly enhance my runs whether I am training for an event or just going out running for fun. I enjoy being able to look back and compare my achievements over time. You can even set weekly or monthly goals on the garmin connect site. Before this watch I was using runkeeper to track my runs but it was not very precise at all.

That combined with having to lug my phone on my arm was a drag. It's nice to look down on your wrist and see the info right there. I love this watch and highly recommend it for anyone who doesn't need all the bells and whistles of the more expensive and detailed Garmin GPS watches. Pros: Reliable, Easy to use, Waterproof, Lightweight, Nice size display w/light, Easy to sync w/Garmin connect Cons: 5 hour battery time (after 5 hrs you have to charge it via USB cable to your computer). Personally this doesn't bother me as I usually run for about an hour 5x a week.

If you plan on going for runs longer than 5 hrs at a time, this is NOT the watch for you. If the watch is not in GPS mode it is said to last about 2 weeks. More information at Garmin Forerunner 10 GPS Watch (Pink/White)

Garmin Forerunner 205 GPS Receiver and Sports Watch

I've been running for a few years and I'm currently training for my third marathon. I've spent thousands of dollars on shoes, socks, supplements, shorts, rubs, headphones, etc etc etc. This is BY FAR the very best return on investment I have gotten. It's simple to use, if you can use a smart phone you can figure out most of the features without reading the manual. I thought based on the reviews it was the best combination of features, display, quality and price available and I was right. This really is an excellent product and I can't wait to use it over and over.

Technical Details

  • High-sensitivity, watch-like GPS receiver that provides exceptional signal reception
  • One-piece training assistant that provides athletes with precise speed, distance, and pace data
  • Includes training center software, which allows users to download workout data for a detailed analysis
  • Used for multiple sports, such as cycling, cross- country skiing, and windsurfing
I bought this watch for my fiance, an avid runner, this past Christmas. I waited a few months write this review to allow enough time for a comprehensive review and make sure it didn't stop working after a few weeks. Today the watch works as well as it did on its first use. The battery life is excellent and has never run out on him. He runs around 6 to 12 miles on average. running watches with gps

The features of this watch allow him to track many aspects of his run and have improved his skill level. The satellite contact is consistent and accurate. I was concerned, at first, with buying him an older model. While the 205 model is a bit bulkier than newer models, my fiance claims it is still lightweight and appreciates the large display screen with easy-to-use controls. From reviews I've seen on the new models (usually complaining of difficult controls which malfunction, satellite connection loss, and inconsistency), I believe I made the right choice. He now considers this watch a part of his regular running routine. Highly recommended if you prefer quality over flashiness, especially at such a low price!

Timex Marathon GPS

I love this watch it was just what I wanted! not fancy, and just the features I needed and did not spend 300.00. I run in the city but in wooded areas and it works great!

I've been running recreationally for four years, three to four times a week, usually with one long run on Sundays. I bought this watch two weeks ago because I wanted a cheap, simple, waterproof GPS watch that shows current running speed.

For those of you new to GPS watches, you should know that GPS watches don't give you an instant pace, but an "average" current pace over the last minute or so. During my first run, I did a little experiment to see how fast it picks up the change in speed. At warm-up, watch was showing 6.1min/km. I sped up to the pace I know from experience was about 5 min/km. Initially nothing happened. After 20-30 seconds, pace changed to 5.8, then after another 10-15 seconds to 5.6, and it kept going down. It took around a minute to go down to 5.1min/km. If you want instantaneous pace, you need a watch with foot pod, but they have different gotchyas to GPS watches, and my preference was GPS watch.

It is fairly simple to use: you press the GPS button, wait 30 seconds to pick up the signal, click "Mode" few times till you find "Run", and press "Start". Watch display is quite large, easy to see, and you can adjust the contrast of letters vs the background. Display shows time/distance/current pace. You can change that to time/distance/km/ per hour (for biking) or time/distance/calories or few other combinations.

You can do automatic laps, or splits, and you can use it indoors, like a normal chronograph watch.

The watch is fairly bulky, like other GPS watches on the market.

Pros:
-Great battery life of 8 hours of running (apparently it lasts few months as a normal watch)
-Easy to re-charge off the USB port
-Waterproof, you can swim with it
-The cheapest GPS running watch on the market
-Intuitive

Cons:
-No option of downloading data , although you can save the runs and review them on the watch. One of the web reviews said that Soleus cable can be used to download data, but Timex company has obviously chosen not to offer that option.
-No heart rate monitor (there is a small heart symbol, and my suspicion is Timex has not provided that option, either, probably because nobody would be buying their more expensive watches if this one offered the same features for a third of the price) running watches with gps
-Buttons are sensitive, I switched indiglo light on few times by accident.

For the price of $99, this is a very good value. It's so much cheaper than other GPS watches on the market. If you need a very basic, no-fuss watch to monitor your time, distance and pace on medium to long runs, this will do the job.

I would prefer to give it 4.5 stars due to sensitive buttons, but apart from that, the watch does what it promises, and price is amazing.

If you have ever been annoyed at trying to zap a flagstick with a rangefinder (or the time it takes for a playing partner to do so) or wondered what to do with a GPS device while you take your golf swing (or left it in the cart as you walked to your ball), this device is for you. It will speed your round and give you accurate distance information to the green.

MOTOACTV Sports ArmBand

You're hardcore. You get up early to get in an hour of workout time. You bike to work. You actually run your errands. Your friends are slightly afraid of you. Meet the device that packs in the same amount of action you do--MOTOACTV is a fitness tracker and smart music player combined into a lightweight, wearable device. It's like having a personal trainer and a DJ joining you on your run or ride. The MOTACTV fuses music and fitness, altering its workout performances with you, so you can focus on fitness, not playlists. The MOTOACTV is available in 8GB or 16GB capacities, and its features include:
  • Precise tracking of your running and biking outside and in the gym
  • A smart music player that learns what songs motivate you
  • GPS tracking of your training position on an uploaded map
  • Sweat-proof, rain resistant, and scratch resistant construction
  • Ability to set goals and start racing against them
  • Audio coach that gives you updates, keeps you motivated
  • Touchscreen display that adjusts to sunlight, intuitive controls
Let me start by saying I have every strap, band, and clip offered by MOTOACTV and this arm band is my favorite and the most functional. I like wearing the device on my arm and this arm band is soft and very comfortable, but even better than that I have no issues with slippage on my runs, plus I can still use my wired earphones and just tuck the extra cord in through my sleeve and under my shirt. I actually wish the watch band they offered were made with the same design and material. running watches with gps

The watch band is nice but this is so much nicer and quicker to get on and off. When undone the band is 17 inches from end to end. My arm where I strap it right above my bicep is 11 inches in circumference. This would fit down to 10 inches but then would no longer be able to hook on.

So if you are small make sure to measure around the area that you plan to wear this to make sure it will fit you. The largest it can go is 16 inches, although it is a little bit stretchy so it might go another 1/2 inch. Overall, this is the accesory that I use the most with my MOTOACTV and I really like it.

Received this watch last week. It is the first GPS Watch that I've owned. I'm just a recreational runner/walker but so far I'm really enjoying the features of this watch and included software. Two problems I ran into, 1. The heart rate monitor would not work and I was finally able to correct the problem by pairing the chest strap with the watch but that was suppose to have been done at the factory. 2.

I couldn't load the computer software onto my computer but I finally was able to get it to load when I closed out my antivirus software. Other than that it was no problem. I'm really enjoying the watch and all the reports and graphs you can compile on the computer. running watches with gps

It is very easy to transfer the info from watch to computer or from computer to the watch. I thought the price was very good for the features you receive and in comparison to other GPS watches with similiar features. I've only used it for a week but so far I'm very pleased with this product and highly recommend it.

S1 Foot Pod

The Polar S1 foot pod should be just as much a part of your training as your running shoes. Accurately measuring your running speed/pace and distance, this essential piece of kit will be with you every step of the way. And even though it attaches to your shoe laces, its so light that youll forget its even there, which means it wont affect your running performance.

I bought this S1 Footpod for use with my Polar FT60, and have had no problems after (3) outdoor runs and (2) indoor runs. running watches with gps

This S1 is technically designed for use where the G1 (gps based footpod) doesn't have satellite connectivity.

On the (3) outdoor runs, this recorded to my Polar FT60 with absolutely no problems. And the distance accuracy was within approximately a quarter block in distance compared to me GPS recorded RunKeeper statistics.

On the (2) indoor runs, this was almost identical to the distance reported by the treadmill I was using.

I've only had one briefly moment that the FT60 prompted me to check my S1 Footpod, and even during that time it was functioning promperly. It is easy to attach to your shoe, and I don't even notice once I start my runs.

I really enjoy the added data, this unit provides me.
